Prof. E. F. Salmon of Wye College in Kent, England, was responsible for breeding the variety Brewers Gold. This variety is well known all over the world, being planted around the globe on account of its moderate alpha acid content, vigorous growth and high yield. Results will depend on the region in which it is grown but the variety has been known to deliver lemon, redcurrant and spice flavours in beers.
